Song: Clocks, Coldplay
Ok, I finally semi-understand why newbies on the net seem to have a tendency to direct link. They actually teach it in school and textbooks. I'm taking an intro to web design course at the moment (yes, it's boring me to death but I get to sneak online) and I was going through the book as usual, doing the required exercises. Well, lo and behold, one of the exercises goes, "this exercise will show you how to link from an online server." I talked to my teacher today, and he said "who cares? It'll probably give them traffic." WTF?.....I told him it'll eat up the site's bandwidth, and he just laughed it off. There is something seriously wrong with the world these days. O.o

Alright, my daily rant of the day. This time it's a special, special treat. xD I've listed mostly all of my internet peeves and ranted about them. Oh the glory. xP Beware of occasional coarse language as well, mostly #07. :3 I think I rambled too much on the elitist issue. *sneakers* xP

INTERNET ETIQUETTE

Oh yes, and for all you Photoshop experts (I know there are definitely plenty), please let me know how you slice in Imageready and export it as GIFs when it's saved as a .psd file O.O I couldn't figure it out. -.-;

omg! i can't belive they teach and expect people do direct link!! what is wrong with these teachers?!

i loved your rant, it was totally right and you brought up really good points. mow if only everybody on the net read them and followed them...

bleh... that is exactly why I didn't take the 'introduction to websites and the internet' this year. As for your rant, I agree with some of your points. Especially the plugs one and the unreadable font one. Grr.

fergot to mention. cursor changing ONLY when it's not for links. Links i dont midn if the cursor changes (cause the ugly hand is ugly) but otherwise it doesnt look rather good.

Hey hey! Lovely lovely rant. Though I must add another internet annoyance: cursor change. I hate it when going to a site, ur point changes to a crosshatch or something. Doesn't make sense, ne? ^_^ Also glad ur back online! Lastly a few good winamp skin sites: www.deviantart.com

*blinks* Oy...how did Trin-chan get listed as the poster for that comment when it was me... This is what happens when I'm up till 2am fixing direct linkers and only get 4 hours sleep.

I agree with everything you said Trin-chan. *still nodding her head yes*

You're teacher needs to know more about the subject matter before teaching everyone where you live to think that disrespect to what isn't owned by them is proper. I want to hit him/her over their head with a large, heavy object!! ><

Gaahhh! Stupid teachers! I'm very sure that we all know much more about the net and web design than they do ^^;;. Experience is the key point here, haha, and from what your teacher said... it's pretty obvious that he doesn't have much XD.

Ooh, for the slicing thing, usually I don't use imageready at all. I use the slice tool in photoshop to cut it all up and then just go to file, save for web (I think that's what it's called), and then just pick GIF from a drop down menu under the "ok" and "cancel" buttons, I do believe =). Hope that helps!

BRAVO TRIN!!! *stands on a chair and waves little red ribbons* YOU'VE SUMMARISED EVERYTHING THAT I DISLIKE ABOUT THE INTERNET!!! I very agree with everything!!!! *so needs to plug that* And what a crap teacher is that? Beh!

geez .. the teachers who teach that stuff probably don't run a site themselves, there for can't understand why direct linking would be a problem. Strange though, since they DO teach that, they should know that. Bleh.
