Song: Discovery, s.CRY.ed
Ok there is something I have to vent about and it's driving me crazy. I'm also curious as to whether I am the only one who thinks this is a problem. The thing is, our school has a lot of asians but most of them are either Filipino or Korean. So this year I was pleasantly surprised to find a fellow Chinese guy in half of my classes, but I use the term "Chinese" rather losely. This is the reason why. He is from Taiwan, and Taiwan IS_PART_OF_CHINA, am I not right? Anyway, the first time I bought this particular issue up, it was during Psych and the teacher had asked if people of different cultures interpret dreams differently. She looked at me, but I said that he was Chinese too. So then he goes, "well, actually, I'm Taiwanese" and I went jokingly, "well that makes a large difference." I was slightly annoyed at how he was actually thinking that being Taiwanese and being Chinese were two different things. But I let it go that time. It's nice that he has some pride of his heritage, but in part, he's denying it too. I really didn't think much about it until a couple days ago, when another guy bet me $50 in Biology that he's not Chinese. I was like DON'T BULLSHIT ME. >< So he got all excited thinking he was going to get 50 dollars, and blurted out that he's Taiwanese. I was getting madder by the minute and was like "what difference does that make??" He refused to listen to me and went to the guy (who was in our class again) and asked him. He listened for a second and said.."ehh, I'd rather not get into it," meaning the debate on whether he was Taiwanese or Chinese. I was beyond angry then. >:O I don't know what the hell is the problem with Taiwanese people who refuse to admit that they're Chinese. Just because they're an island away from the mainland does NOT make them any less Chinese than the rest of people on the mainland. That's like saying Alaskians are not Americans. ARGH, what bullshit. If someone can give me a remotely good reason, I can try to see it from their point of view.
Another thing that I've come across in numerous layouts that's just annoying the heck out of me. (I'm full of rants today aren't I? O.o;) Those sites that put up the code for disabling right clicking. I personally right click to open sites up in a new window so I can still admire those that I've come across. But I HATE it when I can't right click. Those codes are even worse than the ones that give you a MS window that says "No right clicking!" or something similar. With these codes, when you right click you don't get anything. It's so frustrating. ARGH. If people want to right click and save the layout on these sites, they'll have to save like 30 little images because they're all sliced up. I DOUBT they have the patience to do that. Wouldn't it be so much easier to take a screencap?? Isn't that the same then? All they have to do is cut the layout out of the screencap and copy it if they want to. Those no right clicking codes NEVER work. @.@ There are too many loopholes around it.
BLAH. I wish I could do what Furura does. x_x How can people make simple layouts seem so pretty?! @.@
I have fallen in love with the wonderful music of s.CRY.ed. *_* Every song I download from their Original Sound Track album is so good. It's so rare to find myself liking every song from one series. The last time and only time I've experienced that was with Gravitation. The OST of s.CRY.ed seems to have 21 or more songs on it, I think I'll make a Scryed CD. :D

I wasn't going to get into this debate because I know nothing about Taiwan's political background (which can really effect what people think... take Tibet for an example), but I did want to say one thing...
Mishi, your argument makes absolutely no sense. If you were looking to state the obvious, you succeeded. o_o; I think anyone who reads this is already familiar with the fact that "Chinese" means "from China" and "Taiwanese" means "from Taiwan." Taiwan is still a part of China, wether its residents like it or not. However, that doesn't mean that they shouldn't want to call themselves Taiwanese. Next time, try making a better argument. n.n

That's why people from Taiwan consider themselves Taiwanese is because of the name itself. Taiwan. They do not want to be called Chinese because Chinese is part of China. That's different. There is a big difference. Read the histories.

Have to agree with Nahi-chan about the "open link in new window" thing. Besides, if I see a neat code or something I like to be able to view the source.
Such a pretty layout by the way! Mucho coolness! :D And I like the way you abbreviated names in the links.

I dunno, Trin-chan, I can kinda see where he's coming from. I mean I don't know anything about the China/Taiwan history but people tend to like to specify where exactly they are from, especially if they don't like the rest of the area around them. For example, Hawaiian people rarely call themselves American. There's a reason for that. They feel segregated from the US (especially since they're so far away) and they are also have a very different culture. I have some Hawaiian friends who actually get upset when people call them American. I can see where you're coming from (as in it's kind of annoying) but I can see where the guy is coming from as well (he wants to keep himself separate from something that he might not believe in/agree with.
Anyway, I hope that made sense. And I HATE no-right clicking as well. ~.^

Can't really help you with the Chinese/Taiwanese thing, but I do hate anti-right clicking because I also love using the Open in New Window feature a lot.
