Song: Hey Mickey, Go-Go’s
A lot has been going on lately. I don’t know if I have the energy to recap on it all, so I may or may not elaborate later. On Monday night, my domain was down. At the time I simply thought it was just a temporary server down and should be back up by the next morning. Yet, it wasn’t. I started getting suspicious on the second day, and frustrated on the 3rd day, as aiNET remained down. I started checking other domains, those I knew were hosted by Endore. None of them were working, and Endore’s main site had gone down as well. Disgusted, I found my way to a forum that discussed Endore’s downtime. There I learned many things. Basically, my domain disappeared for several days because my host (Endore) suddenly went out of business and caused an uproar from the customers. I had paid annually, up until late September, and there’s absolutely no response from them even though the customers have done everything short of going to the owner’s home and knocking on their door, demanding for an explanation. My thoughts on this: I became extremely frustrated after 3 days of downtime. I e-mailed them twice and received no response. Tas sent me a link to a forum thread discussing Endore’s downtime, and I read through it all. You can find it here. I agree with most customers there. There is a great possibility that they were hacked. Whatever the reason, they should have found some way to communicate with the customers. They should have made every effort to contact us. Send a mass email, go to the local library and use their computer and post in a WebHosting forum if that’s their last resort. If they make no effort to communicate, the customers are going to expect the worst. If they had made an effort to communicate, their customers would not be dropping like flies.
During this time, I managed to slam my finger in my door and had my nail come off. It was quite a horrifying experience and I elaborated in my LJ. I had to rush myself to the local health center in -20° weather while blood was seeping through the bandaid and trickling down my fingers. ~_~ The nurses calmly asked for information and did the paperwork while I twitched, twisted and clenched my teeth in pain. Eventually they decided to drill a hole into my nail hoping to let the blood out from under the nail and ease my pain, but it had the opposite effect. It’s been 2 days since then and it’s feeling better, though I can’t type well with a bulky finger wrapped in bandages. It’s going to take a while to heal. -.-
Anyway, as of now, I am content with Cirtex Hosting. They’re rather new, but I’m giving them a chance. I lost all of the mySQL databases, that includes entries in the Gravi listing and my blog. The rest, I believe I have, but I will have to double check. I still need to find a way to get a refund from Endore, and if it’s at all possible, retrieve my databases.
Aside from that, I actually have a couple of things planned. We’ll see over the weekend how things go. Right now I have absolutely zero inspiration, a large headache, quite a bit of homework, a sore finger and not enough sleep.
