Music: How Soon is Now, The Smiths
As I said in the previous entry, my links are old and moldy, so I updated the linkage list with a new layout and format. I cleaned out a lot of links and saved only a handful. I pretty much decided that I wouldn’t do link exchanges anymore (though I don’t recall doing them before ^^;;). So, unless I a) befriend someone or vise versa, b) find a weblog that I highly admire, or c) remember that I forgot to add one of my friends, I won’t be updating the linkage list anymore. Such lazyness, hum? :3 Anyway, the layout is well…sparkly. Part of the word “Linkage” is a bit hard to see. It looks more like “inkage.” O_o; I don’t particularly like BoA, but I like her expression in the featured picture. The majority of the layout was made out of scratch instead of using other images, which is rare for me. I remember when I used to force myself to create layouts out of scratch, and they’d take hell-long to make. XD
While we’re on the topic of layouts, I’ve come to realize something that’s been appearing in good designs lately. I’d go to a site, admire for a few brief moments the power of 3D Max and what it can create, then scroll for the content. I’ve noticed that a lot of 3D Max designs, or general abstract designs, end TERRIBLY. By “end,” I mean the cutoff points of a layout, usually extremely hard to cover up. The cutoff point of the layouts in these designs are blatantly ugly. I understand that this may be because the creator is dead-tired after creating such a hard layout. They just use what’s left of their brain cells to find a background that matches the layout, or take the last pixels of the ends of the layout and repeat it as the background, so that it creates a variation of multi-colored lines. Perhaps they’re eager to release it immediately for the public to woe at their amazing creations. But when has the concept of a layout been changed to “the main image on a page”? A layout is the structure and design of an entire page. It’s hard on the eyes to scroll down a perfectly beautiful layout to scores of multi-colored lines as a feeble attempt at a matching background. While I understand that the cutoff points of a layout is generally one of the hardest parts to cover up, I at least attempt to make it look nice. I probably spend good half an hour on the cutoff points of a layout after I’m done with the entire thing. If I’m extremely tired and sick of designing it, I just place a rectangular box around it as the cutoff points. XD; Generally though, I either try to avoid using pictures with cutoffs that may be hard to cover up, or simply spend an hour trying out different ways to make it end naturally. @.@
On a different note…EXCITMENT! I passed my Library test-out with flying colors, scoring a perfect 50/50.
I’ll need to obtain a drop form by February 13th so I can drop the class for free. ^_^ I also received an A+ on my Calc pop quiz today. Seems like the New Year’s starting off right for me. Now I just have to keep it up. XD Ah, well, back to work for me. I’d like to finish 2 papers and review some calculus before going to play some ping-pong. XD I like beating people up with ping-pong balls. Muha. >D
